Linkin Park's first album Hybrid Theory debuted on October 24, 2000. The album is certified 12x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
Linkin Park doesn’t cleanly fit into one genre of music. When the band first started, they had a unique nu metal sound that merged elements of industrial metal, rap rock, and hip hop. As the band matured, they began experimenting with new genres and embraced a much softer and more progressive rock sound. They even embraced a distinctly pop sound with One More Light.
Linkin Park was founded in Agoura Hills, California in 1996 by Mike Shinoda, Rob Bourdon and Brad Delson.
Linkin Park was founded in 1996 but didn’t start using the name “Linkin Park” until 1999.
In 1996, the band that would become “Linkin Park” started as “Xero.” After Chester Bennington joined in 1999, the band agreed to change the name to “Hybrid Theory.” Record producer Jeff Blue recommended the band change their name in order to avoid confusing themselves with Hybrid, another musical act.
After some consideration, the band settled on “Linkin Park,” an alternately spelled version of what was then Lincoln Park (now Christine Emerson Reed Park) in Santa Monica, California. The band didn’t completely dump the name Hybrid Theory though. Instead the band members used it as the name of their debut album in 2000.
Individual members of Linkin Park are responsible for most of the tracks released. However, they have received help from Rick Rubin, William Griffin, and others.
The song “What I've Done” talks about things we do in our lives that we later regret and the desire to forget bad experiences and start fresh. The song's theme revolves around admitting to past faults and working towards becoming better versions of ourselves.
Link Park released seven albums with Chester Bennington:
Cester Bennington was born on March 20, 1976, and passed on July 20, 2017. He was a vocalist for Linkin Park. When he was alive, he struggled with substance abuse and depression, which likely led to his suicide. However, we can’t know the exact reasons as he left no suicide note.
Mike Kenji Shinoda co-founded Linkin Park in 1996. He was born on February 11, 1977, and has had a successful career as a singer, rapper, songwriter, and record producer. Mike is the band's songwriter, lead vocalist, keyboardist, and rhythm guitarist. He is estimated to be worth over 65 million dollars.
Linkin Park has had 873 concerts.
Linkin Park is most often considered to be Rock, Hip Hop, United States, Alternative Rock, Alternative, Metal, Alternative Metal, Modern Rock, Nu Metal, Post-Grunge, Rap Rock, Bass House, Rap Metal, Rapcore, Electronic Rock, Bassline, Alt Rock, and Old School Bassline.
The last Linkin Park concert was on March 08, 2024 in Munich, Bavaria, Germany.
