A couple of years ago, we created functionality to auto-merge duplicate concerts <\/a>that had identical data (dates, bands, venue, location).<\/p>\n

Around that same time, we created an internal tool for us to compare two concerts together in order to easily see which data wasn’t the same. This tool has made our lives easier because it’s an easy way to find bands & venues need to be merged.<\/p>\n

Additionally, this tool was developed as part of our ongoing effort to ensure that the data on Concert Archives getting better and cleaner with every passing day, month, and year. (“The Big Clean<\/a>” \u2728)<\/p>\n

We do a lot of ongoing data cleaning on our own, but we also rely on our users to let us know when they come across inconsistent data on the platform. And that’s especially the case with our Historian users who spend countless hours adding and correcting data to Concert Archives. \ud83d\ude0d<\/p>\n

And now we’ve opened up the Concert Compare tool to Historians to help make their lives easier too!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Having this will help streamline a lot of effort from some of our most active Historians so that we can keep working together to make Concert Archives a better place for us all.<\/p>\n

So, What Are Historians Again?<\/h3>\n

If you aren’t familiar with Historians, they are Concert Archives users who do a significant amount of work to ensure the historical accuracy of data across the platform.<\/p>\n

Historians do a lot of things that regular users who use the platform for tracking only their personal concert history do not. These include:<\/p>\n
