This is the second to last show of the first Fugazi European tour (the currently unavailable December 16 show at the legendary Effenaar in Eindhoven, the Netherlands concluded the tour) and the last show the band played in England in 1988, before going into Southern and Greenhouse studios in London right after to record the Margin Walker EP with John Loder, which would make up their second official release in June 1989.
Fugazi played second on this occasion at the Boston Arms venue, opening for Beatnigs. The performance is delivered in a no-nonsense, straightforward fashion, and is executed pretty much flawlessly as everybody seems on good form.
Still, I feel the recording loses its appeal and potential because of its subpar quality. Personally, I'd rate it as "poor", because it sounds distinctly suppressed. And as such, I consider this recording to be mainly of interest for the collector or completist.
On a related note, it can be mentioned that Fugazi appeared on Snub TV (an alternative culture television program according to Wikipedia) around the end of their 1988 European tour. The Snub TV video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...) not only includes footage of the song Suggestion as played at the December 5, 1988 gig (unfortunately with the audio pulled from the studio recording) but also presents short interviews with both Guy and Ian previously released as part of the fantastic Fugazi documentary "Instrument" by Jem Cohen.
