Timmy Trumpet / Roy Montez

Roy Montez is the resident DJ at Stereo Live, he spun some great tracks and kept it going hard the whole time he was on stage. Unfortunately it dragged on for 3 and a half hours and only left 90 minutes for Timmy Trumpet to play, so by midnight I was still hype enough for what Roy was dropping, but was basically just waiting for Timmy to come on. The whole thing kind of reinforced my aversion to clubbing. I'm not a fan of the crowds and the endlessly repetitive wubs of the club scene, so I will continue to only go to Stereo Live or Lizard Lounge when it's an artist I'm familiar with and want to see.

All that being said, Timmy Trumpet was banging. He had that powerful, smooth live trumpet performance, ridiculous stage presence, he kept the crowd singing Freaks while they had technical difficulties. The complaint I might have is that it was a rigid setlist but with the A/V work and the hype energy he kept up, I didn't personally complain, it's more of a thing that I know other fans of EDM would notice.

In the middle of his set, he played Numb by Linkin Park, and one of the last songs was a slow mix of Shadow of the Day, dedicated to Chester, with a BEAUTIFUL trumpet solo of the vocal melody. An unforgettable moment, the unity in the room was quite special. I am sad that the One More Light tour didn't happen, but most of all I just wish suicide wasn't a thing that anyone feels they ever need to resort to. Rest in peace, Chester. We all miss you.
