Big Freedia (born Freddie Ross Jr., January 28, 1978, in New Orleans, Louisiana) is a 46 year-old rapper and hip-hop performer, influential for helping to popularize the bounce music genre since its inception in the early 1990s. Big Freedia has stated that they use "he" and "she" pronouns in multiple interviews, identifying as gender non-conforming, fluid, and non-binary. Big Freedia has appeared in many films and television shows, often as her/himself, and released two studio albums, "Just Be Free" (2014) and "Central City" (2023).
