The DTE Energy Music Theatre was originally known as Pine Knob Music Theatre when it first opened on June 25, 1972. It retained that name until January 25, 2001, when it was renamed to DTE Energy Music Theatre. On January 14, 2022, the name reverted back to Pine Knob Music Theatre, its current name.
