At Concert Archives, our goal is to celebrate live music and how it brings us together as a community. To remind people of these positive memories, we send out automated Concert Anniversary Notifications to help fans relive these special moments.
Not Every Memory Is a Happy One
Unfortunately, not all concerts are joyful experiences. In those cases, receiving an Anniversary Notification can be a painful reminder, rather than a celebratory one.
Last Thursday marked the eighth anniversary of the Manchester Arena bombing, which occurred after an Ariana Grande concert. We sincerely apologize for any additional pain the Anniversary Notification caused those attendees.
Empathy, inclusiveness, and community are some of our core brand values. The last thing we want to do is cause pain within our community, so this prompted us to come together to create a solution to prevent instances like this from occurring in the future.
Introducing “Sensitive Concerts”
We’re now in the process of developing a “Sensitive Concerts” feature. When a concert is marked as “Sensitive,” Anniversary Notifications won’t be sent out for that concert. This feature is in the works now, and we expect to launch it within the next week or so.
We’ve created a list of about a dozen concerts that should be marked as sensitive, but there are likely some we’ve missed. If you know of a concert that should be flagged, please email us at [email protected].
Concert Archives exists because of our community. You’ve helped build a space that honors the full spectrum of concert experiences, the joy, the connection, and, sometimes, the hard moments too.
We’re committed to making that space even more thoughtful. Thank you for helping us do that.
The Team at Concert Archives
I’m sure you’ve already flagged it but the October 1 concert here in Vegas due to the mass shooting…
Thank you for the recommendation. And, yes, we do have that one on the list already.
