Cooper brings a sense of pathos to the character that makes him more than just the two-dimensional villain seen in the Bible. In the 2012 film Dark Shadows directed by Tim Burton, Cooper made a cameo appearance as himself, performing at a party at the Collinwood estate and appearing in several scenes throughout the movie. His performance was praised by critics, with some even calling it one of his best.

Alice Cooper has been sober since he completed a stint in rehab in 1983. He has been open about his struggles with alcoholism and drug addiction and has been an advocate for sobriety ever since he got clean.
