Nashville-based Firekid is the synth-shaded, bluegrass-influenced indie folk project of Alabama singer/songwriter/guitarist Dillon Hodges. A boy wonder on the guitar, he began winning competitions at age 11 after having played the instrument for less than a year. He added singing and songwriting to his interests in his mid-teens, and at the age of just 17, he won the 2007 National Guitar Championship bluegrass competition. That year, he also self-released an album titled Stormy Weather.
