Television Concert History

Television was a punk rock band formed by Tom Verlaine, Richard Hell, Billy Ficca, and Richard Lloyd on March 12, 1973. In 1975, Hell was replaced by Fred Smith. Shortly thereafter, Television released its debut single "Little Johnny Jewel." Two years later, the band dropped its first studio album, "Marquee Moon," now widely considered one of the most influential punk albums in history. In 1978, Television released its sophomore album "Adventure." Later that year, Television broke up for the first time. Verlaine, Ficca, Lllyd, and Smith reunited as Television in 1992 and released a self-titled third studio album. Since 1992, Television has toured sporadically with Lloyd formally leaving in 1997. He was replaced by Jimmy Rip who has remained with the band for nearly two decades. On January 28, 2023, Verlaine was the first member of the band to pass.
