The Night the Lights went out in Clarksdale Dec 20 - 21, 2002 (21 years ago) Ground Zero Blues Club Clarksdale, Mississippi, United States
Friday (Dec. 20th) performance by Studebaker John and the Hawks went off without an issue … However, Saturday the 21st would be one of the worst kind of nights for a performer. Just after the band started playing the power for the entire City of Clarksdale went down. It was a moonlit night, but without the lights … inside the club was quite dark. Fortunately, the band had acoustic instruments (resonator guitar and upright bass) … and I was able to provide a small (battery powered) Pignose Amp, for Studebaker John to do his vocals.
