Savoy Brown was the 2nd supporting act for Deep Purple. On the night of this concert Savoy Brown's opening set was phenomenal. Deep Purple, however, started off playing only songs from their latest album, "Burn." The crowd, wanting to hear more older songs, started chanting "Savoy Brown." At some point either a concert-goer or roadie started climbing a speaker tower and it toppled onto the stage, destroying some speakers and amps and starting a small fire which was quickly extinguished. Deep Purple left the stage, without finishing the set list, while the chants for Savoy Brown continued. After a short while, Savoy Brown returned to the stage and finished the night with an unforgettable performance.
