A pyrotechnic display during the concert caused a fire within the venue. Guitarists Vlad Țelea and Mihai Alexandru died during the blaze. Bassist Alex Pascu and drummer Bogdan Enache died from injuries sustained during the incident within the following weeks. Dozens of others perished and nearly 150 suffered non-fatal injuries. Protests across the world erupted soon thereafter with calls for the resignation of multiple government officials who allowed the venue to operate without a fire department permit. All funds raised by the band's final album "Mantras of War" were donated to aid victims of the conflagration.
