Notes:
- A daytime mini-concert followed by a bikini/tan contest. The band was not scheduled to perform a full set at this spring break -- the "drunks on a beach" -- show. Some of the audience were getting out of control and throwing items onto the stage resulting in a rumor that the band had cut their set short. While there were complaints about the length of KISS's set, they were only contracted to perform a short set.
- From local press: "Mayor Pro Tem Pat Hartnett told the county Beach Park Board Friday that the spring break rock concert held March 11 attracted hard-to-manage crowds and created massive traffic problems. 'We had traffic congestion that was out of this,' Hartnett said. Hartnett asked that future large events at county beach pocket parks be coordinated in advance with the city and Police Department. Beach Park Board members voted to work with the city on all future events at county parks. Beach and Park Director Pat Hallisey said the board was taken by surprise by the nearly 20,000 people who showed up for the KISS concert at Beach Pocket Park 2 on the first Sunday of spring break. 'We got caught with our britches down,' Hallisey said. Hartnett said Yaga Ragz, one of the concerts main sponsors, is 'first-class people and do a great job.' 'But that park is just too small for that type of concert,' he said. 'It's a family-type park, and I don't think a hard rock concert belongs there.' Board members agreed saying they would like in the future to avoid scheduling events in the pocket parks that are not geared to the families and children who are the parks' normal users. Hartnett said the city will begin towing cars parked on FM 3005 and shutting down concerts that get out of hand. Board members said the event was presented to them as a fundraiser and they did not know until 10 days before the event what band would play. Yaga Ragz and Houston radio station 93Q FM, another sponsor, have disputed reports that the concert crowd was out of hand. The event raised more than for the Yaga Society, which benefits disadvantaged Galveston County children" (Galveston Daily News, 3/24/90).
