Experience the mesmerizing artistry of ten-time Prix Opus-winning Canadian pianist Louise Bessette as she brings to life an evocative and intriguing program. Dive into the atmospheric soundscapes of Nova Scotia composer John Plant's new work “West Jeddore,” and Anthony Rozankovic's "Pier 21." Journey through the expressive and intricate layers of Paul Frehner's “Amelia, After Harbour Grace” for piano, fixed media, and live electronics. This work is inspired by Amelia Earhart, who took off from Harbour Grace, Newfoundland and Labrador in 1932 for her historic solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean, making her the first woman to achieve this feat. Then delve into rhythmic passion and lyrical beauty as Bessette journeys through the vivid landscapes of Spain and Latin America, brought to life by Joaquín Turina's "Danzas gitanas, Op. 55," Ernesto Lecuona's "Andalucía (Suite Española)," and Astor Piazzolla's "Adiós Nonino, Tango Rapsodia."
