I met Brent from Mastodon at a bar before the gig. Got a picture with him. He signed my CD. Typical fan-geek stuff lol. I had just gone through a very dark time in my life. That album helped get me through it. The tour was advertised as: Mastodon Plays “Crack The Skye” in its entirety!! So I was disappointed wh the band didn’t play “The Last Baron”. The last song on the album. It’s pretty proggy and difficult to play. And the band had a substitute guitar player that night. Someone from one of the opening bands. So I get it. But…I couldn’t resist when I saw Mr. Hinds at the bar after the show. I approached him in the parking lot as he was leaving. I asked him why they didn’t play it?? He said something like “ Are you stupid man? We had a substitute guitar player!!”. I just stood there silent. I was kind of in awe that he yelled at me! But as he walked away he sang out the opening of “The Last Baron”. That was worth it, almost. I have since quit drinking and no longer approach tipsy Rock Stars.
