The 14th annual Bite of Las Vegas is this Saturday, October 23. This is an all day festival with live music, great food and fun for the whole family. This non-smoking event at Desert Breeze Park (Durango Dr. at Spring Mountain Rd.) will be hosted by local radio station, Mix 94.1. Several bands will perform their hottest hits on two stages; there will also be cooking demonstrations, and carnival rides and games for the kids.
This year, Miranda Cosgrove from iCarly will kick off the Bite of Las Vegas from the House of Blues stage with a special appearance and autograph signing, gates open at 10:00am. Christina Perri and Ryan Star will follow beginning at 12:15pm, and three hours later Plain White T’s will perform their latest single “Rhythm of Love” among other hits. Then, K’Naan, a Somalia native will entertain with “Wavin’ Flag at 5:00pm. Sara Bareilles returns to Bite with hits such as “King of Anything” and “Love Song”. And finally at 8:30pm a performance by San Diego’s Switchfoot will close out the event with their latest, “Your Love is a Song”.
Each year more and more food vendors participate, as well. More than 40 vendors will be serving up their specialties, this year. Personal favorites such as Stripburger, Hash House a Go Go, and Siena Trattoria will be among those on hand. At Hash House a Go Go’s booth you can expect $5 burgers, $4 kiwi watermelon lemonade and $3 Snickers bread pudding. Others will offer a variety of fare at a similar price point. Last year, sodas and water were $2, and beer was sold for $4. Prices are quite reasonable.
Bite of Las Vegas is a great success not only for the fine food and entertainment, but it also aids the City Mission of Las Vegas. One dollar of every ticket sold benefits the City Mission to help feed Las Vegas’ hungry. Tickets can be purchased at the (Twain/Durango) gate, this Saturday, beginning at 8:30am. General admission is $9; children 5 and under are free. If you make a donation of canned food at the gate, you will receive $1 off the admission price.
