well, what an incredible daythat lead into the most wonderful and emotional night...We arrived Denise, Pete and myself to begin lining up at around 7am, yes we are keen, there were about 8 people, all good friends ahead of us that we chattded to throughout the day, told stories and took photos together. We watched the trucks being unloaded, heard the sound check and dodged the crowds that flocked to the park for the thrill rides but our biggest thrill was awaiting us inside the Big Top.
I rushed to the front, the barrier was my prime location in front of Jim Moginie. They opened to a roaring crowd with the 1980 classic Knifes Edge and the place went balistic !!
Mid way through the set, the Oils played, as promised< the entire 10-1 album, which of course included some old favs that I hadn't ever heard played live, Scream In Blue and Maralinga. Only the Strong had special meaning that night, my dear cousin Morgan had died recently, and I wept many tears as the Oils stirred the crowd with this classic anthem and I sang my heart out for my cousin, miss you mate
You could have knocked me over with a feather as at the end of the gig, Rob Hirst's drum tech came straight down and handed me directly Robs' stage used set list !!!!!!
INCREDIBLE, a night I will never forget, "THESE SHALL NOT BE FORGOTTEN YEARS"
