My first ever gig aged 16 - Brilliant night! First on stage was a lone bloke with a guitar called Spizzoil, and the audience and I thought this looked a bit dodgy - But Spizzoil was strangely compelling. Tracks like 6,000 Crazy grabbed my attention, so much so that I had to travel upto Soho Market the following weekend to buy the single. Next up were a completely unknown band called The Human League. They had synths, tape machines, guitar, and a slide projector with screen showing odd images (including a couple of Star Trek images). Lead singer had a weird haircut, short one side, long the other, all of which made them memorable. A couple of tracks they did were: Being Boiled and Rock'n'Roll. Crowd didn't know what to make of them, and hardly reacted. Then it was the turn of Siouxsie & The Banshees...and Wow, they were magnificent. The crowd went wild and formed a mosh pit in front of the stage. The band were really tight, and the sound was out of this world. They did tracks from Scream LP: Overground, Nicotine Stain, and the one I remember the most was Jigsaw Feeling, which sounded so rocking and got the crowd in a frenzy. It was an impressive night for my first ever gig, and inspired me to start going to lots more.
