Souryadeep Bhattacharyya / Sameer Gupta

Souryadeep Bhattacharyya is an accomplished sarod virtuoso and a premier Gandabandhan disciple of Pandit Alok Lahiri. Rooted in the Maihar gharana, Souryadeep’s unique style seamlessly blends influences from other sarod traditions, resulting in soulful, technically brilliant performances. Souryadeep’s accolades include being a National Gold Medalist in Instrumental Music, Graded artist with All India Radio, and an empaneled artist with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Government of India. In addition to his traditional performances, Souryadeep served as Creative Director for IndianRaga’s acclaimed Raga Trilogy, where he explored innovative approaches to Indian classical music for global audiences. His collaborations with world music groups like World Music America, Spruce Ritual and Catalpa highlight his versatility and openness to blending traditional and contemporary genres.

Sameer Gupta has created a unique musical sound by combining traditional and modern improvisational styles drawing from his dual Indian and American heritage, and has already established himself as an original voice in music today. Gupta did not begin mastering the tabla until well into his jazz career in the early ‘00s, and now he continues to compose and perform music from a true multi-cultural perspective that bridges several continents.
