I went to this gig - Only 2,000 people attended, so it felt like an intimate gig - Zerra 1 were a bit strange & dull, electronic synth music with a beat - a poor man's Simple Minds; they didn't impress - The Alarm were a bit more lively; and Bono came on to sing a song with them; but I was never a fan. Whereas U2 were fantastically original. What a sound; The Edge's guitar sound really made U2 stick out as something new & different. I was impressed how tight they were as a band. They played a good mix of tracks from both Boy & October albums: Gloria, 11 O'clock Tick Tock, Out of Control, Fire, plus a new track called "New Year's Day", which was memorable even back then. Really impressive gig. Crowd loved it and demanded encores, which they got. I was just 19 yrs old, and seeing U2 in front of just 2,000 people was one of the best gigs I ever went to (and I went to a lot)...!!!!!
