This was opening night of the world tour. When asked “why kick off a tour in Louisville” Stipe responded that they like to start tours in weird places. People thought this meant he thought Louisville was “weird” rather than the fact that Louisville is a weird place to start a year and a half world tour. WDJX gave them a hard time on the air for the comment. They made up for it by putting on an amazing nearly 3-hour show leaving everyone fully satisfied.
