Think this Festival had very hot weather, which was ok to start with, but one of the days was a scorcher, & trying to stay cool was a problem. Vendors were selling bottled water at stupid prices. In the end, I believe the medical tent started handing out free water, and then someone organised a hose to water people down. For me, Psychedelic Furs were brilliant and The Cure did a setlist with more of the older tunes, like: A Primary, Boys Don't Cry, A Forest, etc. New to me were "The Waterboys" & "Whole of the Moon" was memorable.
On 2nd stage were "Robyn Hitchcock & The Egyptians", who were a fun band to watch with tracks like "Brenda' Iron Sledge" & "I wish I was a Girl so I could wet myself in the Shower". - As I was with friends, I ended up seeing bands that they liked better than me. Such as: John Martyn, Lloyd Cole, & Level 42. Though "Black Uhuru" definite favourite of mine, & they did tracks like: Sinsemilla & Guess Whose Coming to Dinner. Overall, thoroughly enjoyed this Festival.

I think this was my first Glastonbury - Nice warm weather - and plenty of space - not like the later overcrowded, crammed Glastos - Spent entire festival high on weed - Didn't see all the acts, but most memorable were:
Aswad, in orange jumpsuits, on main stage one afternoon playing "Sun Dub" & various other classics. In the evening saw some of Joe Cocker's set. He was entrancing, the way he moves when he sings. I was hypnotised as he sang "I get by with a little help from my friends". Green on Red were also a band I saw, along with flag waving New Model Army and Third World, The Triffids, and a very memorable Billy Bragg - who went down well- But best for me were "Echo & the Bunnyman" - First time I'd seen live, and they did a great set with many of my favourite tunes: The Cutter, A Promise, Killing Moon, Villiers Terrace - Great gig.
I did see other bands - One in a side stage was Dr & The Medics, who were very entertaining and successfully put down hecklers in the crowd and won the audience over. Biggest regret was missing Ian Dury; why, I don't know?

Apart from remembering I went to this gig with my mates, I don't remember much else, except drinking too many pints of lager and throwing up in what were the most small, cramped and disgusting toilets you've ever seen...!! Marquee on Wardour Street was a small, dark, hot, sweaty venue. Crammed tightly with punks pressing towards the stage, trying to pogo, but squashed together like sardines could only manage a slight up & down movement. A lot of liquids flying through the air too: Lots of beer, some water, and plenty of spit. And being leglessly drunk in that atmosphere was not good.
No wonder I not remember much. Between throwing up and trying to stay upright in the crowd took all my attention. Vaguely recall Buzzcocks playing some of their singles: "I Don't Mind", "Orgasm Addict", but all a bit of a blur this one...!!

My mates & I had been passing around early Ants singles in the playground at school: So we decided to go see them. This was the classic "Dirk Wears White Soxs' era for Adam & The Ants - When they were still considered an original New Wave act. - The Ants were very memorable - Adam in leather jacket posing wildly while singing - The band pretty tight playing tunes like: Xerox, Cartrouble, Kick, Day I met God, Cleopatra; all classic tracks. -
To be honest; all the support acts were a bit of a blur, and I not remember anything about them. After all, we'd come to see The Ants...!!

This was the classic "Dirk Wears White Soxs' era for Adam & The Ants - When they were still considered an original New Wave act. I don't remember The Monochrome Set, but I did later buy a few of their singles, so they must have made some impression on me. The Angelic Upstarts had a fair contingent of skinhead fans in crowd- And I just remember them as noisy &:threatening - The Ants were very memorable - Adam in leather jacket posing wildly while singing - The band pretty tight playing tunes like: Xerox, Cartrouble, Kick, Day I met God, Cleopatra; all classic tracks. - I think it was at this gig where there was trouble between a few of Angelic Upstarts skinheads and the band. Which resulted with couple of band members jumping off stage into the crowd and throwing a few punches. Bunch of Bouncers/Roadies stopped it very quickly, & couple of punters were dragged off by security guards and band members climbed back on the stage and gig carried on. My mates & I were very young back then, and so we stayed towards back of the crowd, as there were quite a few intimidating looking characters there (mostly skinheads) who gave the gig a bit of a dangerous vibe that night. Still, band were good.
I gotta add that the 'Setlists' for this gig by supporting acts (Upstarts & Mono Set) are way too long. There was no way these bands had enough time to play so many songs...!!

This was the classic "Dirk Wears White Soxs' era for Adam & The Ants - When they were still considered an original New Wave act. To my shame, I don't remember 'The Ruts' playing - I think it because they not released any records yet. So they were an unknown act at that time & I not pay them any attention. Whereas The Ants were very memorable - Adam in leather jacket posing wildly while singing - The band pretty tight playing tunes like: Xerox, Cartrouble, Kick, Day I met God, Cleopatra. I'd seen The Stranglers a couple times before this gig, but I can't remember where and when exactly? This gig I remember because I didn't like it. Gone were the 'Rattus' and 'No More Heroes' eras, and band were playing tracks from Raven & Meninblack LPs (not my favourites). They did do couple tracks from 'Black & White" LP: But only 'Tank' any good. The only track I really enjoyed hearing was "Hanging Around", & I think they did "No More Heroes" in encore? Overall it was disappointing gig for me. Stranglers were not the same band anymore & were going in a different direction to their earlier rocking sound. They got too weird for me. This was the last gig I'd see them...!!

I went to a lot of gigs at Lyceum Ballroom in late 70s, early 80s. Great venue, with wooden dance floor in front of stage, balconies around side, and a bar at the back serving beer in plastic pint glasses. This gig started memorably, with a band I'd never heard of, and never heard of since: "Fourth Reich" (poor name). This was because the lead singer got a blow-job on stage while he was singing...! Not sure if the girl was in the band or not? Think she was. And that's all I remember about that band. I was big fan of Slaughter & The Dogs, but I don't remember them playing. I think they pulled out the gig (maybe somebody tell me). UK Subs put on a great show. Played classics like: C.I.D, Live in a Car, Stranglehold, Rockers, Tomorrow's Girls, and probably all tracks from their 'Another Kind of Blues" LP - Many tracks delivered quickly & fast paced. Charlie Harper great front man & got crowd going. Subs provided a hgh energy gig.

Don't remember Everest - I do remember Flock of Seagulls - The blonde haired singer stood out & their tunes were quite catchy - Though the sound system that night wasn't great & it was hard to identify songs. - Same when Psychedelic Furs came on - The sound was very loud and distorted - And as the Furs were a a big band with two guitars, saxophone, keyboards, bass, drums, many of their tracks produced a wall of sound, like in tracks 'Into you like a Train', 'Dumb Waiters', etc, so, with the bad P A. it was sometimes difficult to hear what song was being played. Keep in mind you'd leave most gigs in those days with your ears ringing. I did make out 'Sister Europe', 'India' and my favourite track 'The Fall' - But overall the gig was a bit of a blur...!! Shame, as I loved Psychedelic Furs...!!

What I remember most about this gig was the amount of official merchandise on sale: Something I'd never really seen at New Wave/Punk gigs before. There was a huge stall selling masses of Cure t-shirts, posters, etc, and even vinyl records. One of them being 12" of 'Hundred Years', which was a freebie with limited number of Pornograhy LPs - Which I didn't get - So I bought copy there and then, which was a stupid thing to do, as trying to keep a vinyl record safe on your person during a hot, sweaty, mosh pit crushing gig, was an impossible task. Bloody thing was a burden the whole gig. I ended up sticking the 12" up my mohair jumper, but returning home discovered that had warped the vinyl. Carrying that vinyl around kinda spoilt the gig for me.
The Cure came on stage with two drummers & played a lot of tracks from Pornography, like: Strange Day, Hundred Years, Hanging Gardens, Figurehead, Siamese Twins, Pornograhy, etc. - It was at this gig and listening to Pornograhy that I came to the conclusion that the Cure were really depressing, and I stopped buying their records and going to their gigs. They did play some older tunes, which made me feel better: A Forest, Killing an Arab, Primary & 10:15 on Saturday Night. But overall I left this gig, at the age of 19, feeling uneasy about the crass commercialisation of Cure brand, and that depressing music like this wasn't for me anymore. It was the end of my love affair with The Cure. (Which 'Love Cats' onwards failed to rectify). This gig was a big step towards ending my time as a miserable greycoat brigade angst ridden teenager
