To Islander -- I would definitely have remembered Tom Petty if he played that night -- that would have been the best ever, but the night I was there, it was just SRV. No other band played, as I recall.
I was at this concert,every body was wet and muddy! Did Tom Petty play at this concert? There werent many people at the concert because of the heavy rain! There was a fence in front of the stage and they were telling people not to touch the fence because of the thunder storms. I had a great time and the show was great!!
Stationed at Ft Drum, and went to the State Fair having no idea SRV was playing. Pure luck! Went straight to the outdoor stage, grabbed a seat right up front. It started POURING rain mid concert and the band had to leave the stage, but said they would try to come back out if the rain passed. We just stayed put and got drenched. When the band came back out, they went right into "Couldn't Stand The Weather" and then finished the set. It was definitely a "significant emotional event" in my life.
