WLIR 92.7 in New York was the first radio station to play New Wave music and they set up the FIRST Duran Duran show in the U.S..and it was 09/16/1981 at Spit Nightclub on Long Island. Duran Duran appear in the movie NEW WAVE: Dare to be Different and they credit WLIR with being the first radio station in the country to play their music.
