went w/Bill Glaser, outta Hudson Valley, NY. Good, clean set, featuring a "sit in" by sax great Karl Denson!

flew in that day, checked in to hotel and headed to theshow. floor ticket, about 10 yards back from otheil... great sound; great way to go out!

went w/ Rick "Sparky" Austin. on the floor, about 1/3 back from otheil... great playing; my highlight, "Mr. Charlie"... great visuals on the wall of the sphere, but I mostly watched the boys play!

beautiful night on San Diego harbor outdoors. Chris was true to form, and the band was tight as ever. he and his guys have been together close to 40 years, and the seamless music proves it: like an old, comfortable slipper. outside the usual tunes, he sang a cute little ditty about the "cheap" poeple in their kayaks getting a free show, set to the tune of the "Gilligan's Island" theme. Crisp, fun, proffesional show... Chris and his buddys have still got it

Flew into San Jose that afternoon, hopped in rental car, drove to the city, checked in to Hyatt Embarcadero at 4:30 PM. hopped in an uber with two guys from queens, NY and hit the show. Had floor ticket, wound up 10 people back, in front of Oteil... Great sound, excelent playing; with oteil bounding all over, and Mayer as well. "jerry hand" was painted on Oteil's head! great from start to finish, with a big, red white and blue drone sshow to send everyone off into the night..
met Kyote, a "classic rock" DJ from Fresno at the bar, and had a couple scotches talking conerts.
headed back to San Jose Airport, and back to San Diego; "back in the county with the blues again", as jerry once sang...

got to the show a little early, so checked out shakedown street, and ran into Bubba, a young friend of jon's.
Temperature was 100+ when show started. Boys took it a little easy with this show, a mellower pace; most likely from the heat. Met john the plumber from Austin , Tx, now living in Cozumel. Also his long-time buddy, Teddy, from Temecula. band threw in a little "sketches of Spain" riff (spanish jam) in the jazzy second set...

loved dick! he ripped it up at 80 years old! played all his tunes, told all his surf stories, leo fender stories, hendrix storie... RIP King of the Surf Guitar!

my first concert! went with mom and dad and little sister; i had just turned 12 in june.... remember driving down to the AAA office in santa monica with my dad to get the tickets. after the first couple of chords of each song by the band, the girls started screaming their heads off! what a way to start my concert career!
