Once again, I got off work at 11:30 pm, and drove to the Golden Bear in HB. I got there and the first show crowd had already left. So I had my pick of tables, naturally up front, mid stage. There was hardly anyone there for Budgie’s second set, but they tore it up anyway. Afterwards I got up and started talking to Tony Bourge and Burk Shelley. I purchased their tour program, and the whole band signed it. It was a memorable evening, to say the least. Budgie was one of those bands I had been following for quite some time, I was totally into them. I’m sorry to say, but I was into Budgie years before Metallica was. I was always ahead of the curve.
