Made the drive to Milwaukee from about 75 miles away with no problem until we got into the city. Snow was coming down at a pretty good rate. My car stalled out in the middle of a fairly busy intersection once we got into the city. Somehow we got it restarted and made it to the show on time. My friend Rick and I did not know anything about cars so it was pure luck that it restarted for us. Anyway, The Kinks put on a great show and we made it back home without incident so it was a good night.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse wrapped up a 3 week tour of the U.S. with this concert at Alpine Valley. The show started out with a 9 song acoustic set. Highlights for me were: My, My, Hey, Hey (Out Of The Blue) This Note's For You (Acoustic) Last Of His Kind Dance, Dance, Dance Love Is A Rose After a short break we were treated to a 3 song mini set that featured what would become the Bluenotes (His horns heavy band) that would tour later in 1987 and most of 1988. This included the full band version of This Note's For You! The remainder of the show featured Crazy Horse...including 3 songs from his latest LP 'Life' (Mideast Vacation, Long Walk Home and Prisoners Of Rock & Roll). The last 3 songs of the night definitely closed the night on a high note--Like A Hurricane, My, My, Hey, Hey (Into The Black) and Tonight's The Night!!

This show was a major "get" for UW-O and it's promotor. The Kolf Sports Center was fairly new at the time and they put on many concerts in the early and mid 1970's. Other big name shows that I attend there were Ten Years After, Black Oak Arkansas, Todd Rundgren and Jerry Jeff Walker (to name a few). The sold out arena was primed and ready when Faces/Rod Stewart took the stage. Shortly into the concert Rod stopped the show. He was obviously very upset and looked like he was thinking about leaving the stage. Apparently, what happened was somebody threw something at the stage and it ended up hitting Stewart in the face! It was later reported to be a coin. I remember what he said..."Whoever threw that object--I'm going to steal your girlfriend after the show!' (This is my PG version because there was some profanity used by Rod that really showed how upset he was). Anyway, lucky for those in attendance the show continued, and it was a rockin' Faces performance! I don't have a complete setlist but I do recall these songs played durig the set: It's All Over Now Three Time Loser Sweet Little Rock & Roller (I Know) I'm Losing You You Wear It Well Angel Maggie May
I never heard if they caught the guy who foolishly decided to jeopardize the health of the band by throwing something at them. I for one hope that he was held accountable for it. And kudos to Rod to carry on after the incident and give the fans a great performance.

First time I saw this duo in concert was 1973. Since that time I attended many shows with them performing with CSNY/CSN or solo. On this night in 2008 I once again experienced the magic that happens when it's just David and Graham. This concert at the intimate Meyer Theatre in Green Bay was the perfect setting for this show. The 21 song concert featured some CSN(Y) classics, a few solo songs and of course a good helping of the Crosby & Nash catalog. The near sell-out crowd enjoyed it all. And I for one was blown away by how good they sounded with an outstanding band behind them and their 2 amazing voices.

From the Milwaukee Sentinel newspaper review by Michael Pflughoeft: Adverse weather did it's best to depress the enthusiasm of 12,500 CSN fans who turned out for the final concert of the Alpine Valley Music Theatre season. But the trio's inspired performance made it well worth braving the elements. (Published in the September 15, 1984 edition of the paper).
