When the venue first opened its doors in 1999, it was called the Air Canada Centre. On July 1, 2018, the venue was renamed to Scotiabank Arena following an C$800 sponsorship agreement between Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment and the Bank of Nova Scotia headquartered in Toronto, Ontario.
