After taking music as a subject at school and after writing her first song at the age of 14, her taste diversified and expanded as she listened to artists including Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin and Fleetwood Mac and more modern folk artists such as KT Tunstall and Amy Macdonald, being intrigued and influenced by their soulful, powerful voices and their unique styles.
