Dying Fetus is an American death metal band from Greater Upper Marlboro, Maryland, formed in 1991. The band has undergone numerous lineup changes over the years, with John Gallagher remaining as the sole original member and primary creative force. The band name was chosen by the members when they were young and was intended to be provocative. Dying Fetus has released nine studio albums to date.
