The band originated as a project involving musicians from several established metal acts, and its line-up has included members associated with groups such as Carcass, Armageddon, Mercyful Fate, Spiritual Beggars, The Agonist, Nevermore, Eucharist, and Once Human. Arch Enemy has released multiple studio, live, and compilation recordings.
