2i Concert History

2i was a band from the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul) which first performed publicly circa 1980. The band's instrumentation included saxophone, trumpet and guitar. The core members were Daniel Kaniess and Jay McHale. Various other musicians have moved through the ranks of 2i, including Scott MacDonald of Arcwelder. Improvisation was a component of the band, though they also did composed songs. The song title "Ornette Coleman's Teenage Bedroom" gives an idea of one influence; like Coleman, multiple melodic lines wind through 2i's music.
