John McGrew (lead vocals, piano, trumpet, guitar) and Graham Fisk (drums, backing vocals) began performing together in 2006 as the two began to create a catalogue of songs that would evolve into Apollo Run's sound. Bassist Jeff Kerestes joined the band in 2007, completing the trio.
