The Black Market Hero story begins in New York City, with the hiatus of rock bands Flaw and 40 Below Summer in full effect by the fall of 2005. At that time Max Illidge (vocals) and Joey D’Amico (guitar) of 40 Below Summer, connected with Ryan Jurhs (guitar) of the band Flaw.
