In 1965, he co-founded the Grateful Dead in 1965 and led a successful solo career in the decades after the Dead disbanded in 1995. He fronted several different bands during his career, including Bob Weir & RatDog, Bob Weir & Wolf Bros, the Bob Weir Band, and Bobby and the Midnites. As a member he performed with such bands as Kingfish, Scaring the Children, and Dead & Company. On January 10, 2026, Bob Weir passed away. The summer prior, he had been diagnosed with cancer.
