When the short-lived punk band Commander Venus broke up in 1997, lead singer Conor Oberst went on to form the indie, emo, folk-rock band Bright Eyes. In 1998, Bright Eyes released its first two albums: "A Collection of Songs Written and Recorded 1995-1997" and "Letting Off the Happiness." In 2004, "Lua" became the band's first and only single to reach the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100. On November 21, 2011, the band broke up after a show in Hawaii. After nearly 9 years, the band reunited, releasing the song "Persona Non Grata" on March 24, 2020. Later that year, Bright Eyes released its 10th studio album "Down in the Weeds, Where the World Once Was" and has since announced plans to reissue their first nine albums.
