Often referred to as the “Father of Rock and Roll”, he played a significant role in developing rhythm and blues into the style that became rock and roll. His best-known songs include "Maybellene" (1955), "Roll Over Beethoven" (1956), "Rock and Roll Music" (1957), and "Johnny B. Goode" (1958).

In 1965, Memorial Auditorium in Dallas hosted the Five Americans, the Gentrys and Chuck Berry. I cannot find a reference to this concert anywhere, but I know that it occurred because I was there. My father took me and my little sister, and we got in with five Oscar Mayer wiener wrappers, and two dollars each.

Simetime in the summer of 1968 Chuck Berry played the Club Inferno in Williamsville NY. I know because I was there.
