Crosby, Stills & Nash is a folk rock supergroup formed in 1969 by David Crosby of The Byrds, Stephen Stills of Buffalo Springfield, and Graham Nash of The Hollies. The band released its self-titled debut album in May of that year. A short while later, Neil Young, also of Buffalo Springfield, joined CSN and the band was renamed to "Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young" (CSNY). As CSNY, the band released "Déjà Vu" in 1970. It was the band's first album to top the charts in the US, Canada, Australia, and the Netherlands. CSNY broke up not long after but reunited in 1973. Young left in 1974, and the band continued on as CSN, releasing its second album under that name in 1977. During short periods in the '80s, '90s, '00s, and 2013, Young reunited with CSN, but for the majority of its duration, Crosby, Stills & Nash recorded, performed, and toured as a trio. In 2015, the band formally broke up, and on January 19, 2023, Crosby was the first member to pass away.
