Windho (guitar), Rinto (guitar), Hapsoro (drums), Budi (bass) and Barik (vocals) formed a high school band named Magic Pie in 1998. After their graduation in 1999 and departure of Budi, they formed Dojihatori with their college mate Virgi on bass. Despite the Japanese sounding name, Dojihatori apparently came from a collective abbreviation of their names (winDO, virJI, HApsoro, rinTO, baRIk). Barik left the band in 2002 due studying abroad. Windho's college mate Yuma came joined in 2003 to fill the void.
