Electric Light Orchestra, often called "ELO," was formed by Jeff Lynne, Roy Wood, and Bev Bevan in 1970. When Wood left in 1972, Richard Tandy joined and is often considered one of the original and consistent members of ELO, even though he was not technically a founder. In 1983, ELO disbanded, but the band continued under several different names. Bevan formed ELO Part II in 1989, renaming this group The Orchestra in 2000. Similarly, Lynne re-formed ELO as Jeff Lynne's ELO with Tandy in 2014. Some consider these bands continuations of the original ELO, but others argue that each of these is a distinct band and that the original (and real) ELO existed only between 1970 and 1983.
