Foo Fighters's 2003 Concert History

Foo Fighters is an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington in 1994. Following the suicide of Kurt Cobain, lead singer of Nirvana, fellow bandmate David Grohl went on to form the Foo Fighters. What started as a one-man project quickly emerged as one of the most critically and commercially successful rock bands in recent decades. After performing consistently for nearly thirty years, the band canceled all of their 2022 shows following the death of long-time drummer Taylor Hawkins on March 25, 2022. In September 2022, two tribute shows were performed in his memory. On New Year's Eve 2022, the band announced that it would carry on, albeit in a different direction. During 2023, Foo Fighters played nearly two dozen festival shows with the "Everything or Nothing At All Tour" commencing in the fall of that year and continuing through 2024.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Who are the Foo Fighters?

The Foo Fighters are a post-grunge rock band formed in 1994 by Dave Grohl following the disbanding of Nirvana amid the death of frontman and lead vocalist Kurt Cobain. Prior to starting the Foo Fighters, Grohl was the drummer of Nirvana, but as a member of the Foo Fighters, he acts as lead singer, guitarist, and frontman. Over the last several decades, Grohl has led the Foo Fighters to international fame and stardom despite several shifts in the core members in the early years of the band. Not only have the Foo Fighters won over a dozen Grammys, they were also inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame during their first year of eligibility (2021).

When did the Foo Fighters form?

After Kurt Cobain's death in 1994, Nirvana disbanded. Former Nirvana drummer, Dave Grohl, started the Foo Fighters soon thereafter. Initially, Foo Fighters was a one-man band with Dave Grohl playing all of the instruments on his demo tape. While Grohl was unable to recruit former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic to join the Foo Fighters, he did successfully recruit Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith, and guitarist Pat Smear. They performed together for the first time on February 23, 1995 at the Jambalaya Club in Arcata, California.

How did the Foo Fighters get their name?

How much do the Foo Fighters make per concert?
