Vincent Eugene Craddock (February 11, 1935 – October 12, 1971), known as Gene Vincent, was an American rock and roll musician who helped pioneer the rockabilly style. His 1956 top ten hit with his backing band, the Blue Caps, "Be-Bop-a-Lula", is considered an influential early example of rockabilly. His chart success was brief in the United States, where he had three top 40 hits in 1956 and 1957 and did not enter the top 100 again. In the United Kingdom, he achieved greater success, earning eight top 40 hits between 1956 and 1961.
