After departing from Queensrÿche in 2012, founding member and lead vocalist Geoff Tate went on to form "Geoff Tate's Queensrÿche." This led to a legal battle between Tate and his former bandmates over the "Queensrÿche" brand. On April 17, 2014, it was settled that Tate's former bandmates would retain the right to use the name "Queensrÿche" while granting Tate exclusive performing rights to the band's first major album "Operation: Mindcrime" and its sequel "Operation: Mindcrime II." After the settlement, the band renamed itself to "Operation: Mindcrime." As "Geoff Tate's Queensrÿche," the band released one studio album: Frequency Unknown" in 2013.
