Gospel Machine hail from some time in the 1960s when the word "gospel" had soul and when people said "soul," they meant sweating and singing and moaning. Jayanthi Kyle (of Black Audience and Romantica) fronts the gospel and soul band with a voice reminiscent of Aretha Franklin or Nina Simone. Meanwhile, behind her, some of the members of The Small Cities punctuate Jayanthi's voice.
