Guitar Junior Concert History

Lonnie Brooks' (aka 'Guitar Jr.') pervasive 1950s bayou blues roots, laid bare and rocking hard. "Family Rules" was highly influential to the blossoming swamp-pop movement soon sweeping southern Louisiana; "The Crawl," "I Got It Made (When I Marry Shirley Mae)," "Roll, Roll, Roll," and "Knocks Me Out" (the latter one of his Mercury singles) drive with youthful abandon. The youngster's ears were wide-open -- he even covered Harlan Howard's country ditty "Pick Me Up on Your Way Down," investing it with serious swamp angst.
