Mandre was a fictitious persona played out by instrumentalist Andre Lewis. Concealing his identity with a helmet, he released three supercharged space-funk LPs. He grew up in Omaha, later forming a group with to-be Grammy award winner Lester Abrams. Toured and recorded with: Grant Green, The Who, LaBelle, Buddy Miles Band, Maxayn, Rufus, White Chocolate, Earth Wind and Fire, toured and recorded with Frank Zappa.
