Marie McGilvray plays acoustic guitar. She has since she was 11. She writes melodic alternative-folk songs (alternative = doesn’t always follow traditional folk strong structure, recording uses various instrumentation). She has a textured vibrato voice that is soulful, emotional and soothing. She has been compared to Joni Mitchell, Jane Siberry, Sarah McLachlan and Kim Richey. Her music explores the universal themes of love and relationships and spirituality.
