"As the leader of the up-and-coming Widowers, local songsmith Mike Marchant has already demonstrated a lackadaisical mastery of dreamy, druggy indie-folk, but he’s been slowly and quietly growing into an artist in his own right. His recent spate of solo shows has culminated in a new Marchant EP, Outer Space And The Sea. It’s an apt title: Veering from bare, echo-rattled acoustic songs to bubbly psychedelic pop, Marchant uses everything from lap steel to distorted drum machines to augment his wispy yet soulful voice and songwriting.
