Formed in the spring of 2008, Modern Conversation is a mixture of West Coast style with Midwestern charisma. Songwriter and singer David Courtenay migrated to Chicago after playing up and down the California coast as a solo artist. In search of a more vibrant and collaborative music scene, he soon met percussionist Devoney Dean, bassist/guitarist Jeremy Schmidt, and keyboardist Jackie Rada.
